Hey everyone, so I got served with eviction documents last night (a summons). I called a friend of mine who is a lawyer to help me with this because it was above me, and I am scared as hell. The law firm that is handling the evictions handles 45% of the evictions in my state and they keep a blacklist, so if I have an eviction on my record, I honestly won’t be able to rent anywhere and as a black female in a majority white city who doesn’t make that much it’s extremely hard to accomplish that.
I was offered today to have them withdraw the compliant, I need to have a check to their office for $3400 tomorrow. I can get $1750 but I need help with the remaining $1650. This is a really tall fucking order but if this eviction goes through then I am going to be homeless because nowhere will rent to me because this will be on my record. I need a miracle and I desperately need help. I don’t have a family I can go to and ask to stay with so that is out of the question.

In the 18th century, scientists said that Black cis women’s labias abd clitoris were too big to be considered normal and were more similar to penises and less than women when compared to white women. The things transphobia and terfs say that are natural differences between strict, coherent genders don’t actually exist but are constructed and influenced by race. Black women weren’t considered woman despite having vaginas. They’re genitilias we’re marked as deviate, pathologized as inherently hypersexual and beastly, and looked at as abnormal and wrong for womanhood. This innate “femalehood” terfs like to espouse ignores how Black Women were denied woman/female status because of their race.
This can’t be looked at as “oh well they were clearly wrong they were women but just marked as nonhumans because racism” it’s more complicated than that. The standard for womanhood was created around heterosexual white women and Black Woman were placed in the non woman category to be the anthesis of womanhood. To hold onto colonial concepts of gender and gender norms is to play into the gendered system that was founded on the inherent UNwomanlyness of Black women. This proves that things like having vaginas, estrogen levels, the ability to have kids under the current western gender binary, the one used to excluded trans women from womanhood, don’t actually matter when construction ideas of womanhood. I’m definitely not the first person to make this connection in the slightest and I think it’s important that cis Black Women recognize this as we try to be better allies to trans women, especially Black trans women.
